The US Securities and Exchange Commission issues a statement regarding Gensler's resignation
The SEC stated in a statement that today is Gary Gensler's last day at the SEC. Chairman Gensler has long been engaged in public service work and joined the US Securities and Exchange Commission in 2021. Previously, he served as the Chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission, Deputy Secretary of the Treasury for Domestic Finance, Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for Financial Markets, and Senior Advisor to US Senator Paul Sarbanes. He brought his rich experience and knowledge in financial markets to the position of chairman, and we worked together to advance the committee's mission of protecting investors, maintaining fair, orderly, and efficient markets, and promoting capital formation. Although as committee members, we approach policy issues from different perspectives, we also maintain dignity amidst our differences. Chairman Gensler has been committed to bipartisan cooperation and mutual respect in the exchange of ideas, which helps promote our service to the American public. We are deeply grateful for this.
