On March 21st, according to The Block, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) may adopt blockchain technology to track the flow of funds as part of a more transparent procurement process. This proposal was proposed by officials of the Trump administration with the aim of reforming and rebranding the institution. According to a document obtained by Politico and claimed to be circulating at the US State Department, the proposal mentions in the creation of a "modern, performance-based procurement" process that "all fund allocations will be securely stored and tracked through blockchain technology to significantly enhance security, transparency, and traceability." However, it is currently unclear how the system will operate or what type of blockchain technology will be used - whether public, private, or hybrid.
