The Bank of England is considering abandoning its digital pound plan

According to Bloomberg, the Bank of England is considering abandoning its central bank digital currency (CBDC) program. Central Bank Governor Andrew Bailey stated that if commercial bank payment innovation is successful, he will need "a lot of persuasion" to introduce the digital pound, which marks a decline in global support for state backed digital currencies.
