Iran and the United States may resume negotiations in Islamabad next week
According to sources familiar with the matter, Iran and the United States are pushing for the finalization of a 14 item memorandum of understanding through mediators, establishing a framework for a month long negotiation that could resume as early as next week in Islamabad. Iran has expressed willingness to discuss its nuclear program, but there are still differences over issues such as uranium enrichment, the role of regulating the Strait of Hormuz, and the lifting of sanctions. A spokesperson for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that Iran is currently reviewing the US proposal and will convey its position through Pakistan.
