The Iran War affects energy supply, and US refineries are approaching full capacity production
The Iran War has cut off energy supplies to the Persian Gulf, prompting US refineries to intensify production of gasoline, diesel, and aviation fuel, with a capacity utilization rate of nearly 92%. Analysis suggests that refineries may reach maximum production capacity in the remaining time of 2026. The reduction in crude oil supply in Europe and the slow recovery of post-war infrastructure in the Middle East have pushed up processing profit margins. Gasoline production reached a nine month high, and aviation fuel production reached its highest level since the summer of 2024.
