Trafigura Group and Tether discuss USDT gas station pilot project

--

According to Bloomberg, Trafigura Group is discussing with Tether to pilot the use of USDT to pay for fuel costs in El Salvador. The pilot program involves gas stations operated by Puma Energy, a subsidiary of Trafigura. Consumers can use USDT to pay for fuel or snacks, and the funds are exchanged for US dollars by intermediaries and transferred to Trafigura. The discussion is in its early stages and requires regulatory approval. Puma Energy spokesperson stated that discussions are still exploring technical feasibility. This is Tether's first collaboration with large commodity traders to explore stablecoin applications.
