TSMC plans to expand PIC production capacity, with a monthly production capacity of 25000 pieces by 2028

According to Jin Shi, the production capacity of Taiwan, China Semiconductor Photonic Integrated Circuit (PIC) will increase from 500 pieces per month to 10000 pieces per month in the second quarter of 2026, 15000 pieces per month in the fourth quarter, and is expected to increase to 25000 pieces per month in 2028. Based on 648 die per wafer, TSMC's PIC monthly production capacity will increase from approximately 4 million to 78 million after increasing from 500 to 10000. If the production capacity reaches 25000 die per month, the annual PIC output is expected to reach 194 million.
