Cape Town police in South Africa have seized multiple luxury cars on suspicion of being used for cryptocurrency fraud propaganda
According to News.bitcoin, the mayor of Cape Town, South Africa, and the Metropolitan Police have launched a special operation to seize multiple luxury vehicles using forged or unregistered license plates. The authorities seized a Mercedes AMG GLE off-road vehicle worth over $153000, which was fraudulently registered as a BMW. The police also arrested a driver of an unregistered BMW 3 Series sedan. These vehicles are often used by fraud gangs to flaunt their wealth on social media platforms such as TikTok, in order to lure victims into investing in fake cryptocurrency and foreign exchange projects.
