Ray Wang: Strong demand for HBM, Changxin storage technology lags behind top manufacturers by 3 to 4 years

--

According to CNBC, SemiAnalysis analyst Ray Wang stated that there will be strong demand for HBM in 2026, and Samsung and SK Hynix will shift their wafer production capacity to HBM, with wafer production being the limiting factor. Ray Wang stated that Changxin Storage holds approximately 10% of the DRAM market share, but lags behind by about 3 years in terms of process technology and 3 to 4 years in HBM. Ray Wang believes that most of the new supply will arrive in the second half of 2027, and the shortage of supply in 2028 will only slightly ease compared to 2027.
