According to TheEnergyMag, Alexander Neumueller, research director at Cambridge University's Centre for Alternative Finance (CCAF), revealed that from June 2024 to December 2025, the annualized electricity consumption of Bitcoin mining increased from 138 TWh to 190 TWh, greenhouse gas emissions increased from 40 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent to 48 million tons, and the proportion of low-carbon energy increased from 52.4% to 59.4%, with hydropower becoming the largest single source of energy.
