According to The Block, security company Check Point has revealed that cross platform malware SparkKitty has been embedded in Apple App Store, Google Play, and third-party Android store applications, using optical character recognition (OCR) to scan images in users' photo albums and steal encrypted wallet mnemonic words. The attacker disguised SparkKitty as an encrypted service, chat tool, and entertainment application, requesting access to the album and continuously scanning existing and newly added photos, and uploading the recognized mnemonic words, passwords, QR code information, and device information to a remote server.
