[Lee Anderson Calls for Investigation into Wes Streeting Over Suspected Political Donations Linked to SBF]
According to Cointelegraph, Reform UK Chairman Lee Anderson has called on the Parliamentary Standards Commissioner to investigate Defense Secretary Wes Streeting over a $50,000 donation he received from the think tank Labour for the Long Term between 2022 and 2023. The founder of the think tank had previously received a $675,000 grant from SBF. UK law permits unincorporated associations to directly donate more than $675 to politicians, a regulatory loophole that has been criticized as potentially serving as a channel for foreign or dark money. Wes Streeting's team stated that they had requested a donor list before accepting the donation and found no mention of SBF. Streeting himself claimed he has never had contact with the former FTX CEO, who is currently serving a 25-year prison sentence.
