[Multiple Crypto Institutions Jointly Send Letter to AI Labs, Urging Model Access for Bitcoin Developers]
According to Cointelegraph, the Bitcoin Policy Institute (BPI), along with crypto institutions such as Anchorage Digital, BitGo, Bitwise, Blockstream, Kraken, Ledger, MARA, and Trezor, has issued an open letter urging AI labs to expand trusted access programs for Bitcoin and open-source software developers. The letter highlights that maintainers of open-source projects like Bitcoin Core lack access to AI labs' cybersecurity programs and are forced to rely on less capable open-source models. Meanwhile, the Bitcoin network safeguards over $1 trillion in assets, and vulnerabilities in open-source infrastructure jeopardize users' savings. The Bitcoin Policy Institute (BPI) revealed that multiple reports indicate sophisticated attackers are leveraging advanced AI capabilities to launch attacks.
