Over 80% of ships switch to Oman route, weakening Iran's control over the Strait of Hormuz
According to Kpler data, over 80% of ships have chosen the Oman route in the past two weeks, which has been authorized by the United Nations. Kpler's head of crude oil analysis, Homayun Farah Shahi, stated that Iran has partially lost control over the strait. US Secretary of Energy Chris Wright stated that the current flow of oil transported and diverted through the Strait of Hormuz is approximately 15 million barrels per day, close to the pre conflict level of around 20 million barrels. Iran and Oman are discussing the restoration of free navigation arrangements in the Strait of Hormuz. Qatar stated that if an agreement is reached, it may push the US and Iran back to the negotiating table. Trump stated that there are currently no negotiations or dialogues between the United States and Iran.
