[Trump: Resisting Data Centers Will Lead to Falling Behind, Multiple Projects Stalled]
The Build American AI initiative, supported by Marc Andreessen, Ben Horowitz, and Greg Brockman, has invested millions of dollars to promote data center construction. However, a poll by the Annenberg Public Policy Center shows that opposition among the American public has risen to 61%. U.S. President Trump stated that communities resisting data centers will become backward and impoverished, warning that China is pleased to see this backlash. Currently, New York, Texas, and several other cities have introduced restrictive measures. According to Data Center Watch, approximately $130 billion worth of projects have been blocked or delayed as of Q1 2026.
