The Bolivian government has committed in its economic and financial policy memorandum submitted to the IMF to establish a regulatory and supervisory framework for virtual assets to prevent capital outflows through the cryptocurrency market. This commitment belongs to the 36 month, 1.369 billion Special Drawing Rights (approximately 1.9 billion US dollars) expansion fund arrangement reached between Bolivia and the IMF, and is yet to be approved by the Bolivian Congress and the IMF Executive Board.
