The Hong Kong government has reiterated its intention to submit amendments to the Cryptocurrency Licensing Act by the end of 2026, establishing a licensing system covering digital asset trading, custody, consulting, and management services. The Secretary for Finance and the Treasury of Hong Kong, Patrick Hui, stated that the amendment will respond to the development of the fintech sector. The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) has started processing applications for stablecoin issuer licenses and issued the first batch of stablecoin issuer licenses to Anchorpoint Financial and Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation in April.
