The US goods and services trade deficit rose to $105.6 billion in August, an increase of 13.7% from the revised $92.8 billion in July, reaching a 17 month high. The US import volume increased by 4.3% to $420.8 billion in August, and exports increased by 1.4% to $315.2 billion. Capital goods imports increased by 6.2 billion US dollars to 146.4 billion US dollars, reaching a historic high, with strong demand for semiconductors and industrial electromechanical equipment related to AI data center construction.
