The South Korean KOSPI index plummeted 4% during trading, triggering a sell circuit breaker mechanism
On Tuesday, the South Korean KOSPI index plummeted 4% in the first hour of trading, triggering a sell circuit breaker after about two months. Due to fluctuations in the KOSPI 200 index futures, the effectiveness of selling quotes in the securities market program has been suspended for 5 minutes. When triggered, the KOSPI 200 futures index closed at 955.02 points, a decrease of 51.20 points or 5.08% from the previous trading day's closing price. Selling circuit breakers in the securities market are triggered when the KOSPI 200 futures index drops by more than 5% and lasts for 1 minute. This is the first time the KOSPI market has triggered a circuit breaker since August 20th, and the first time a circuit breaker has been sold since August 19th.
