Bitcoin Core updates its security policy; AI-detectable vulnerabilities will be patched immediately.
Bitcoin Core has changed its approach to handling security vulnerabilities, abandoning long-term secrecy for vulnerabilities easily discovered by AI and instead immediately backporting fixes and releasing new versions. The project merged this policy update this Thursday (GitHub PR bitcoin-core/bitcoincore.org#1281), initiated by Chaincode Labs developer Antoine Poinsot. Large language models have lowered the barrier to discovering vulnerabilities and identifying code fixes, leading to a surge in such vulnerability reports.
