The US House of Representatives proposes to include Bitcoin in strategic reserves

The US House of Representatives has proposed a new version of the American Reserve Modernization Act of 2026 (ARMA), which plans to include Bitcoin held through confiscation and other means in the strategic reserve, lock it up for 20 years, and no longer require the purchase of 1 million BTC. The bill will also establish independent digital asset inventory management for non Bitcoin encrypted assets, and require quarterly disclosure of reserve certificates and third-party audits. After the lock up period ends, the Minister of Finance may recommend the sale of up to 10% of reserve assets within two years. Supporters believe that strategic digital assets should be held for the long term.
