Japanese regulatory authorities are pushing for adjustments to the legal framework for digital asset investment, and spot Bitcoin ETFs may be approved for listing as early as 2028. On July 15th, the Japanese Diet approved the transfer of Bitcoin and approximately 105 other encrypted assets from the framework of the Payment Services Act to the Financial Instruments and Transactions Act. Large Japanese financial groups such as SBI Holdings and Nomura are preparing digital asset products, and Japan plans to adjust the cryptocurrency tax system from a maximum miscellaneous income tax of 55% to a separately declared tax system of approximately 20.315%.
