Morgan Stanley strategists Molly Nickolin, David Adams, and Andrew Watrou stated that investors increased their long positions in the US dollar and short positions in the pound before the Federal Reserve and Bank of England interest rate meetings. Option pricing data indicated long positions in the US dollar index, and futures market data also showed long positions in the US dollar. Asset management companies mainly long the euro and short the pound, while leveraged funds long the pound and short the New Zealand dollar.
