Iceland held a referendum on August 30th, with 52.8% of voters, totaling 105339 votes, opposing the resumption of EU accession negotiations. As a member of the European Economic Area (EEA) rather than the European Union, Iceland currently does not automatically apply the EU MiCA Act, and cryptocurrency activities are mainly regulated by general financial laws. According to Bitcoin.com News, MiCA is expected to be included in the EEA agreement in the future, but there is currently no official timetable.
