CFTC requests court to dismiss CME's lawsuit against Kalshi Bitcoin perpetual futures

According to Bitcoin News on X platform, the CFTC has requested the Washington D.C. court to dismiss CME's lawsuit against Kalshi Bitcoin perpetual futures. The cash settled BTCPERP by Kalshi was approved on May 29th, with no expiration date and using funding rates to track spot prices. CME believes that contracts without delivery dates and continuous payments belong to swaps rather than futures; The CFTC called the matter a "mountain out of a molehill" and pointed out that CME can also list similar products, and the trading volume of CME Bitcoin futures in June and August was higher than that in May. CME needs to submit a response before October 2nd.
