According to Axios, Ukrainian President Zelensky stated that the United States is exploring measures to downgrade Russia and Ukraine before and during the winter season, while restarting peace talks. US Middle East envoy Vitkov and senior advisor to Trump, Kushner, visited Kiev and held a 3-hour meeting with Russian President Putin in Moscow. Zelensky said that the message conveyed by the US is that the Russians are ready to negotiate and propose downgrade plans involving energy facilities, food transportation, power facilities, and oil and gas exports. The US team will report to US President Trump and continue consultations with Ukraine and Europe. Zelensky hopes to restart the diplomatic process in September and October, and has stated that there may be trilateral negotiations between the United States, Russia, and Ukraine in the future, but no decision has been made yet.
