IMF approves $139 million allocation to El Salvador and waives restrictions on Bitcoin holdings
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has approved a grant of $139 million to El Salvador and granted an exemption for the Salvadoran government's violation of Bitcoin holdings restrictions. The IMF Executive Board has completed the second and third reviews of El Salvador's $1.4 billion Extended Fund Facility (EFF), allowing for immediate disbursement of funds. El Salvador has made progress in anti money laundering measures, fiscal transparency, and the transfer of ownership of the state-owned digital wallet Chivo. (Source: Reuters)
