Binance suffers $6.3 billion theft; multiple trading platforms strengthen security measures.

--

Following the $6.3 billion theft from Binance, Coinbase, Gemini, and Kraken have strengthened their security measures. Coinbase Chief Security Officer Jeff Lunglhofer adjusted the cold storage system, and VP of Product Will Megson upgraded telephone protection. Gemini added a fund transfer alert, and Kraken is closely monitoring the situation. Binance has taken control of the compromised infrastructure and revoked affected authorizations; withdrawals are expected to resume within 34 hours. Chainalysis attributed the attack to TraderTraitor and warned exchanges to be wary of fund transfers on the Tron network. OKX CEO Star Xu called for the industry to establish a collaborative monitoring and rapid response mechanism. (Source: Financial Times)
